The Reality of Female Hypergamy

Even a guy like me that doesn’t follow celebrity gossip at all knows by now that Kristen Stewart cheated on her boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. Here is the link to the story.

It is an objective fact that Robert is an attractive guy and can basically get any women he wants – from a teenage girl to a middle age woman. And his girlfriend still cheated with an older, physically less attractive man. He was her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director. He is also married and has two children.

So here is the point. You can have looks, money and be a good dependable guy (you know, the “nice guy” every woman says she want). This won’t prevent your girlfriend or wife to ditch you as soon as the opportunity arises. The opportunity is of course a man with a higher social status that is prepared to take your place. Your money, time and emotional investment won’t matter and you will be disposed as a used tampon. You served your role, now you are garbage. The man she cheated with will gain respect as a seducer and womanizer (from both men and women), while the man she cheated on will be laugh on. Maybe not directly into his face, but this is the case.

We can all get a lesson from this story. For men that want a serious long-term relationship it is vital to acknowledge the cold and merciless reality of female hypergamy – that is woman’s tendency to mate up the social hierarchy. If they do not, they risk to end up at best like Pattinson (broken heart and ego) or at worst you will end up in a nightmare of the divorce court where she can get half of your wealth and be awarded alimony (yes, they give alimony to cheating spouses).
