… according to Allison Benedikt. Except maybe the Barack and Michelle Obama. She published a “manifesto” at Slate called “If You Send Your Kid to Private School, You Are a Bad Person.”

You are a bad person if you send your children to private school. Not bad like murderer bad—but bad like ruining-one-of-our-nation’s-most-essential-institutions-in-order-to-get-what’s-best-for-your-kid bad. So, pretty bad.

At least she clarifies that people who are prepared to make personal sacrifices in order to provide their children with the best possible options are not as bad as murders.  How magnanimous of her.

Benedikt also starts by admitting herself ignorant on education policy, and then proceeds to demonstrate her stupidity and ignorance throughout the rest of the article.

I am not an education policy wonk: I’m just judgmental. But it seems to me that if every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve. This would not happen immediately. It could take generations. Your children and grandchildren might get mediocre educations in the meantime, but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good. (Yes, rich people might cluster. But rich people will always find a way to game the system: That shouldn’t be an argument against an all-in approach to public education any more than it is a case against single-payer health care.)

Read the whole article here. The irony in all this is that it seems Ms. Benedikt sends her kids to a private pre-preschool in New York City, although she does plan to send them to public school. So this makes her a temporary bad person.

In the fall of 2018, all of our kids will finally be in public school, and we will have the $5,000 we pay in child care every month back in our bank account. I will be 41, my husband will be 46, and perhaps then we can start to consider a second toilet.

Not all of that $5K will go toward a family home — to pay for preschool, we stopped contributing to our 401k years ago. So 2018 will also be the year we start paying into it again — not that we will ever be able to retire — and, hey, let’s put some away for college, shall we?

On the interesting notice, Benedikt’s boss, David Plotz, who attended a private school, hailed Benedikt’s “amazing manifesto” in a tweet.

Just more anecdotal evidence that celebrities are scum and should not be looked upon or even worshiped (as is too often the case today). In this case, we are talking about Matt Damon:

In 2011 came out strongly in support of public schools and teachers union. All well and nice, the only problem is that he doesn’t practice what he preaches. When it comes to his children, public schools are just not good enough, so he enrolled them into a private one, as he revealed in an interview with the Guardian:

“Sending our kids in my family to private school was a big, big, big deal. And it was a giant family discussion. But it was a circular conversation, really, because ultimately we don’t have a choice. I mean, I pay for a private education and I’m trying to get the one that most matches the public education that I had, but that kind of progressive education no longer exists in the public system. It’s unfair.”

He is a fucking hypocrite. Clearly, he thinks public schools are only for plebeian scum like us.

Johanna Granbom, leader of Young Left in Sweden recently created a debate when she proposed a ban on porn in Sweden. But not porn for everybody, just white men. It was a post on the Swedish TV channel SVT Debate that the Young Left representative last week proposed the legislation ban against what she calls the “sick view of women.” When the leftist Swedish newspaper DN took contact with Johanna Granbom, she clarified it was just “one type of porn” that she wanted to criminalize: porn for white men. Porn that targets men of other skin colours than white, would be deemed “okey”, and also porn targeted towards women or people of different sexual preferences.
